§ 42-7. Limitations and exceptions.

An emergency vehicle, police vehicle, firefighting vehicle, vehicle of volunteer firefighters and any other privately owned vehicle commandeered for use during an emergency is exempt from the provisions of sections 42-3 and 42-4(a), when the vehicle is at the scene of an emergency and its operator is engaged in activities of such a nature as to constitute an effort to bring the occurrence, which gave rise to the emergency, under control or lessen its severity.
