§ 44-54. General requirements.

  • Every new premises, public or private, where people live, work, or congregate, shall be provided with approved toilet facilities, including handwashing facilities. Said facilities shall be properly connected to a public sewerage system where available or to a private sewerage disposal system specifically approved for the premises by a state health officer or duly authorized representative, after determining that the installation and operation of an individual system will not create a nuisance or public health hazard. It shall be the duty of the owner, manager, or agent of any occupied premises, public or private, where people live or work to provide an approved method of sewerage disposal.
