§ 44-19. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Camp means a dwelling, the primary purpose of which is to provide short-term shelter during seasons in which the trapping and hunting of wild game is legal.

    Car washer means a business establishment which is a part of or an additional service provided by any type of business, or is the sole service which is open to provide automotive cleaning to the general public for compensation and is a separate business establishment, as a customer, whether or not the service rendered is in addition to other services offered by the proprietor.

    Church means a structure used for the principal purpose of worshiping, on a weekly basis, a supreme being.

    Customer means a person, business establishment, corporation, governmental agency or political subdivision of the state, parish, federal government, or village, who is presently receiving services from the water department and is billed on a monthly basis for such service and was receiving such service prior to September 10, 1984, and whose account is paid in full on or before the first day of any current month.

    Hall means any type of structure used for the principal purpose of a meeting place by the general public or rented to individuals or groups to conduct events for the benefits of private individuals, groups, or the general public.

    Home means a single or multifamily dwelling, the purpose of which is to provide long-term dwelling.

    Irregular customer means a person, business establishment, or corporation whose principal need for water is limited to single projects of short duration and who receive water in portable tanks filled at the main valve located at the water well or other location designated by the water commissioner.

    Meter customer means a person, business establishment, corporation, governmental agency or political subdivision of the state, parish, federal government, or village who receives services from the water department and pays for water delivered or used.

    New connection means a sewer connection that did not exist on the effective date of the ordinance from which this article is derived, at a particular location for connecting a customer's residence or a place of business to the village's sewer system.

    New customer means a person, business establishment, corporation, residential rental property owner, governmental agency or political subdivision of the state, parish, federal government, or village, who is presently receiving services from the water department and is billed on a monthly basis for such service and whose account is paid in full on or before the first day of any current month.

    Other business means any type of establishment which offers services for compensation other than as a restaurant, truck stop, or carwash.

    Previously existing sewer connection means a sewer connection that was in use on or before the effective date of the ordinance from which this article is derived.

    Restaurant means a business establishment which has as its principal bill of fare prepared food for on-site human consumption.

    Truck stop means a business establishment which has as its principal service the retail selling of automotive fuel, automotive and tire repair and operates two or more diesel fuel pumps.
