§ 2-128. Use of equipment and property.

  • (a)

    Office equipment. An employee is assigned office equipment as necessary to carry out job responsibilities. Office equipment should be used solely for a public purpose relating to the responsibilities of the village.

    (b)

    Office supplies. Office supplies are available to all employees. These should be used solely for a public purpose relating to the responsibilities of the village.

    (c)

    Telephones and facsimile machines. Office phones and facsimile machines are to be used for municipal business purposes only. Personal telephone calls should be kept to a minimum. Facsimile transmission of personal documents is prohibited. Employees should discourage incoming facsimile transmissions of a personal nature.

    (d)

    Copy machines. Copy machines are to be used for municipal business. Copying personal documents is prohibited unless the village is reimbursed. Copies will be made for the public at a charge per page, as determined by the board.

    (e)

    Other equipment. Other equipment owned by the village is subject to this section. No equipment owned by the village should be used for any purpose that is not related to the business of the village. This would include but not be limited to times such as lawnmowers, vehicles, tractors, small tools, and equipment. If there is any doubt as to the items covered by this section, it is the responsibility of the employee to ask a supervisor.
