§ 14-19. Defined.

  • (a)

    The term, "junk," when used in this chapter, shall have the following meanings, unless the context indicates otherwise:

    (1)

    Any motor vehicle which does not have lawfully affixed thereto both an unexpired license plate and a valid motor vehicle safety inspection certificate, the condition of which is either wrecked, dismantled, partially dismantled, inoperative, abandoned, or discarded.

    (2)

    The term "junk" applies to any other wrecked, dismantled, partially dismantled, inoperative, discarded, or abandoned major appliance, such as a refrigerator, freezer, range, or machinery.

    (b)

    The term "junk" shall not apply to any motor vehicle in operable condition specifically adapted or constructed for racing or operation on drag strips or raceways; any motor vehicle retained by the owner for antique collection purposes rather than for salvage or for transportation; or any motor vehicle stored as the property of a member of the armed forces of the United States who is on active duty assignment.
